Katrina and Lotus -
reunited after four years and 250 miles!

Most of the time when we rescue a cat or dog from the streets of Atlanta, it is truly homeless with no microchip and the visible signs of never having had a loving home.  However, when one of our volunteer rescuers found a super friendly, thin kitty in July 2020, we had no idea about the reunion that was about to be put in motion!

You'll notice beautiful Lotus in the main photo above getting a kiss from her Mom, Katrina, but what you can't tell from the photo is that the two had been separated for four years, and this was a reunion photo! Are you ready for an amazing story?

Lotus and her sister Zen were rescued as babies in 2009 in Atlanta by Katrina and her then-boyfriend, and they were so young that they had to be bottle-fed.  Because they were both loved very much, when Katrina and her boyfriend parted ways in 2016 while living in Omaha, Katrina kept Zen and Lotus stayed behind with the ex-boyfriend.  Since that time, Katrina moved from Nebraska to Nashville to care for her mom who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. The ex-boyfriend returned to Georgia with Lotus.

Fast forward to 2020 and Katrina was completing treatment for Stage 2 Breast Cancer. It was almost as if Lotus knew that her Mom needed to see her again.  We will never know how or when Lotus left her home or even where she was living, but in July one of our volunteer rescuers found her, had her chip scanned, and lo and behold she was still chipped to Katrina!  Katrina quickly made the drive from Nashville to Atlanta to reclaim Lotus, and we captured several photos of their happy reunion!

We hope you'll scroll through the beautiful photos, not just of Lotus and Katrina reunited after four years, but also of Lotus and Zen growing up together from tiny babies to adult cats.  We feel blessed to be a part of this new chapter in Lotus, Zen, and Katrina's life together and we wish them many more years of happiness, love, and companionship!
